What is a schema markup generator?

A schema markup generator turns details you type in, such as your business name, address and hours, into JSON-LD: the structured data format Google recommends. This one covers FAQPage, Organization, LocalBusiness, HowTo and Article, and outputs both the raw JSON-LD and a complete script tag you can paste straight into a page's HTML.

Five types

Pick the type that matches the page

Schema describes one thing at a time, so the type should match what the page actually is. A service page is not an Article. A contact page is not a HowTo. Pick wrong and you are telling search engines something untrue about your own site, which helps nobody. Here is what each of the five is for.

1

LocalBusiness

For a business with a physical location or a defined service area. This is the one most local businesses need. It carries the name, full postal address, phone, opening hours, price range, image and links to your other profiles, and it supports subtypes such as ProfessionalService.

2

Organization

For a company without a customer-facing address: agencies, online-only brands, anything where a street address would mislead. Covers the name, logo, URL and the sameAs profile links that connect your site to your LinkedIn, Facebook and other official pages.

3

FAQPage

For a page with genuine questions and answers visible on it. Google retired FAQ rich results in May 2026, so this will not win you extra space in search results any more, but it still gives anything reading the page a clean, labelled question-and-answer structure.

4

Article and HowTo

Article suits blog posts and news pages, carrying the headline, author, image and dates. HowTo describes a step-by-step process. Google retired HowTo rich results back in 2023, so treat it as a way to describe the page rather than a route to a search feature.

Local detail

What to put in a LocalBusiness block

This is the type we generate most often for clients, and the one people fill in most carelessly. The details here should match what a customer would find anywhere else they look you up. Getting them consistent matters more than getting them comprehensive.

1

Address and phone

Use the full postal address, split into street, locality, region and postcode rather than one blob of text. Use the same phone number format you use on your Google Business Profile, your contact page and your listings. Consistency is the whole point of the exercise.

2

Hours and price range

Opening hours should be the hours you actually open, and they need updating when they change. Price range is a rough band, not a price list. If either is wrong here and right on your profile, you have created a contradiction where you meant to create clarity.

3

sameAs profiles

sameAs links your website to the other places you officially exist: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Yelp, your Google Business Profile. Only list profiles you actually control and keep current. A dead account nobody has touched since 2019 is not the signal you want to send.

Being straight

What this markup will and will not do

Structured data has been oversold for a decade, usually by people selling something. Here is the honest version, so you spend your afternoon on the thing that will actually move the needle for your business rather than on markup that was never going to do the job on its own.

1

It does not replace your Google Business Profile

Markup on your website describes your business to anything crawling the site. Your Google Business Profile is what feeds the map pack and the business panel, and you claim and manage that separately. If you only have time for one, claim the profile.

2

It is a description, not a ranking lever

Correct markup helps machines understand your page and makes it eligible for certain features. It does not push a page up the results on its own. If the page is thin or the business has no reviews, schema will not carry it.

Questions

AI-Ready Schema Generator FAQ

Does the script go in the head or the body?
Either works. Google's structured data documentation says a JSON-LD script block can sit in the head or the body of the page, and it reads both. The head is the conventional place and the easiest one to manage sitewide through an SEO plugin. Inside a Custom HTML block at the foot of the content is perfectly fine for page-specific markup.
Is FAQ schema still worth adding?
It will not earn you a rich result. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on 7 May 2026 and removed the documentation a month later. FAQPage remains a valid schema.org type, and it still labels your questions and answers explicitly for anything parsing the page. Add it if you already have real FAQs published; do not build an FAQ section purely to get the markup.
Why offer HowTo if Google retired the rich result?
Because the markup is still valid and some people want it for other systems reading their pages. Google announced the change in August 2023 and HowTo rich results have not appeared since. We would rather generate it and tell you plainly what it does than quietly drop it or let you believe it still wins search features.
Which LocalBusiness subtype should I choose?
Pick the most specific one that is genuinely accurate. ProfessionalService fits consultancies, agencies and similar. There are narrower types for dentists, plumbers, restaurants and many others. If nothing fits properly, plain LocalBusiness is a perfectly good answer. A wrong specific type is worse than a correct general one.
Does this tool check the markup after I add it?
No. This one creates markup; checking it is a separate job. Once the block is live, run the page through our Schema Markup Analyzer, which finds every JSON-LD block on a URL and reports errors, warnings and rich-results eligibility. Generating and validating are deliberately kept apart so each does one thing properly.
Can I use this on a site that is not WordPress?
Yes. The output is plain JSON-LD wrapped in a standard script tag, so it works anywhere you can add HTML: Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, a hand-built site, or a tag manager. The WordPress steps above are just the route most of our clients take. Nothing in the generated code is WordPress-specific.
